Following the deployment of the new ScalarCloud production infrastructures, now distributed across 4 datacenters in Europe (and 2 in the USA), it’s now the backup infrastructures’ turn to evolve.
Objective: extend the distributed security model already applied to production to our backup infrastructures.
Concretely, instead of having one datacenter dedicated to backups and others to production, we now have a backup infrastructure distributed across 4 different datacenters.
To ensure the best possible response time between each production site and its backup, we conducted several rounds of latency measurements. The result:
– Gravelines will be backed up on Roubaix
– Roubaix will be backed up on Gravelines
– Limburg will be backed up on Strasbourg
– Strasbourg will be backed up on Limburg
Finally, SBG remains the current spare site for production, while Limburg now becomes the spare site for backup infrastructures.

Hello everyone, we are currently setting up a new backup infrastructure for our hosting clients (ScalarCloud).
To address the overlap issues that can sometimes occur, especially during nighttime network slowdowns on the OVH network currently in use, the new infrastructure will no longer be shared.
From now on, each node will have its own independent PBS (Proxmox Backup Server) as well as a dedicated 25 Gb/s interconnection for this purpose.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
